Lakeside Animal Clinic is proud to serve Garron, a Seeing Eye Dog for Tony Jones. Garron is a full-blooded German Shepherd that has been specially bred and trained by The Seeing Eye to guide visually impaired people. Garron has been with Mr. Jones for almost four years.

The Seeing Eye is an organization founded in 1929 to provide specially trained guide dogs (German Shepherds, Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers) for the blind and visually impaired. Puppies are carefully bred and selected for their future job as guide dogs. They are trained in basic obedience and socialization as puppies, then adopted out to volunteers who care for the dogs until they are about 18 months old.
At eighteen months of age, the dogs return to The Seeing Eye for a four month training course in the skills necessary to become a guide dog. The dog is then matched with a visually impaired person and they receive training together for another 27 days. Only dogs trained at The Seeing Eye can truly be called "Seeing Eye Dogs".
